When disasters large or small strike, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, and health services to individuals and families who are affected. From care for hurricane evacuees to providing home cleanup kits to tornado victims, the Birmingham Area Chapter is there to help. The ARCHIE (American Red Cross Helps In Emergency) volunteer program responds to the scene of disaster to assist people in crisis.

Project SHARE provides emergency assistance to our elderly and disabled neighbors who need help with their energy bills. Clients in need apply for Project SHARE assistance at the American Red Cross office in their county. Project SHARE is administered by the American Red Cross and is funded by electric utility customers who donate through their monthly electric bills.
